To-do-list: Yey, its a long weekend!
1. Sleep. It has been a crazy week. Everyone is tired and sleep deprived. Specially the boy who has been travelling up and down the east coast and the girl, who has suddenly got heaps of work to do.
2. Entertain friends (Take pictures)
3. Block Island (Take pictures)
4. Rent bicycles and ride around in Block Island (Take pictures)
5. More sleep.

Piglet isn't jealous. Like the others, he is a little worried about being repeatedly made a subject for her new toy. Already he has been asked to pose a few times. Blake, Kendra and the boy have all being made subjects. What is frightening is, she still has no idea what she is doing.

brought the new toy to work. couldn't help it: its lonely here without car bear. new toy doesn't have a name yet, though. it is not quite as cuddly as piglet, or eloquent as car bear, but its at least worth a thousand words...

got a new toy. piglet is not the jealous type but i saw him eyeing the new one, as i unwrapped the box and revealed to all (who were gathered there, watching): a shiny, baby palm-sized wonder. i waited a whole week for this. click. click.

under clouds, today. not even loud, clouds. come up for air?

Mars is, apperently, closer than ever. That got Piglet all excited. He is planning to go up to the roof top and gaze at the planet all night.

boy is living on marmite. i suppose if one has to live on something, it is a brilliant choice. spread it on bread, crackers, sip it as tea, add onions and you have soup. there are also some less known uses for this dark mysterious substance. when dabbed on the forehead, it repels evil spirits and gives the wearer supernatural powers. rumor has it there is even such thing as a marmite kiss. in sum, use marmite to mystify your friends, baffle your opponents and amuse your co-workers.. one warning, especially for the americans: please don't spread it on bread like peanut butter..

car bear is on vacation. the office is empty without him - well, except for the piles and piles of papers, scattered in all directions and on the floor, in no particular order, that make the whole space resemble a post-earthquake zone (and that is an understatement). besides for that, the office feels empty.

The party was excellent. It was actually more like a picnic than a party. Everyone had a great time. There was so much food that by the time the picnic was over Piglet went into a food comma. Even the Donkey was lying belly up. All the plans for the night had to be canned when the boy too passed out on the carpet. All that food from china town took a toll on everyone.
But the weekend wasn’t all that unproductive. Among other things, it was quite a Jazzy weekend. Watched so much jazz that we knew the drummer of the Howl festival’s Sunday feature band on first name basis. What’s his name again? Ok so we knew his name. Played chess with a Russian dude on the street fair. And lost. Watched ‘American Splendor’ the movie. Good movie. Couldn’t cover most on the list of things-to-do. Piglet is still dirty and she still hasn’t gotten her Apple.

... but then again she is no bigger than miffy. Only slightly may be. So, Miffy could wear one of her dresses.

party!! announced piglet. yippeee! said car bear.. hmm, thought miffy.. what am i going to wear? maybe i will borrow one of girl's mini skirts - wear it as a dress..

Left out Piglet's bath in the list of things to do. Piglet will be taking his periodic bath this weekend. It was supposed to be last week but thanks to the power failure Piglet is still scruffy.

Thursday, August 21, 2003

Not much to write. Nothing really happened during the long long week. Glad Thursday is finally over. Piglet, Blake, Kendra and everyone else is waiting for the weekend to have a party. They will be joined by their new battery powered friends bumble bee and red car (if he rememberes to bring them).

To Bring List:
1. car - small red one
2. bumble bee
3. running shoes (as if)
4. that arm
5. bag of rice (for decoration not consumption - therefore optional)
6. ability - and desire - to spend quality time with piglet, car bear and miffy (real ones, not stuffed ones)
7. maturity
8. irony

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

To do list:
1. Buy an Apple.
2. Watch "American Splendor". Paul Giamatti seems funny.
3. Concert!! Hopefully won’t be another ‘Bowery Poetry club' experience, which we ended up doing thanks to her.
4. Wonder if her camera will be here. We could take some street photographs.
5. Jog to Upper West side. (Plan B = walk, plan C = take the subway, plan D = cab, plan E = see #6
6. Sleep

Piglet comes crashing thru the LoudCloud website ripping the site apart, making a big hole in the middle. He seemed a little frustrated. “What is going on here?” shouts Piglet. “I have had enough of this mushy boy/girl soap opera”. Seeking the attention that is rightfully his, piglet rattles on.

The boy had trouble waking up today. And apparently, so did the girl. They have been chatting on the phone trying to make the unusually long week pass by faster. It’s been so long. Started with a long Monday followed by a lengthy Tuesday. Monday morning was incredibly long compared to the other mornings. The work started at 8:30 (11 for some) and took forever to reach lunch. Lunch passed fairly quickly but then second half of the workday crawled. The night was fun and they spent it chatting on the phone and getting cozy. Although, miles apart, he tucked her in, gently put her to sleep. She slept like an angle (or more like a rotating Ferris wheel.) Tuesday was even worse. The clock hands lagged. Lunch came and went and finally when it was dark they spent a while chatting on the phone.
And finally, now, its Wednesday. Wednesday??!! Only Wednesday?!!! Well it’s the middle of the week. There is still an eon to go. But then it will be Friday. And it would time for everyone to take a ‘hug me’ break.

He did however manage to grab something to eat and rest for a little bit. He didn't mind her calling at all. She always has interesting stories. He finds everything she does very amusing. She makes every little thing she does very eventful. Even faxing a document. But he did get the documents he wanted her to send in order to get his car fixed after the little accident he had. Except for getting the white out all over her and almost faxing Blake she did everything great and the documents are on its way to the Police department.

Boy went home for lunch and a nap, except there was no food at home.. to make matters worse, Girl kept calling him (somehow overcoming his only-accept-identified-calls barrier) not even allowing him to sleep or look for food. finally, he managed to escape (pretending to have somewhere to go, but really just hiding under the covers for a quick shut-eye).

Meanwhile, blake got caught inside a facsimile machine.. all because Girl was not capable of sending a self-addressed stamped envelope. however, she did manage to get white out all over herself... and discovered that white out is not water-soluble.. and makes a trendy nailpolish.

spent the whole morning with miffy. miffy just returned from the beach, on the coast of italy. on the way back to nyc, she stopped in holland and visited her family. now she is all tan, well tan for a pale bunny. miffy is shy, but so delightful and fun. she hops to my office with a beach ball, almost as big as her. want to play? she asks.

car bear survived. all the people are back in the building. everyone is impressed when they realize car bear was here the whole weekend. he went up and down the stairs, through every single office, making sure everything was in order. basically, running the place. and in the Pitch Dark. how impressive! how brave! what a hero!

he has so many stories to tell. the adventure he had been dreaming about, the elusive Escape, was right Here all along. when you stop searching, you find what you are looking for..

Blackout crisis in LoudCloud has since been resolved. Apparently some far away land called 'Ohio' was responsible. I guess not all countries have the excellent infrastructure, as does LoudCloud.
Anyway, one good thing that came out of the whole debacle was she and Blake (who else?) came north for a change. It was a grueling journey for them both. To begin with, it was a lengthy decent through the dark and dangerous passageway from her home to the ground level. Then it was a long walk to the 'area X' where she and Blake fought (or sneaked) their way aboard the bus going north. There was total chaos with people stranded for days struggling to get home. She and Blake finally took their seats and endured a 5-hour of exhausting journey across many lands and kingdoms until they were finally close to where he lived.
Once there, they met up with him and everyone had a great time. Went to the pool, the river, 'hippopotamus', and best of all we all went flying soaring above the city and the green fields. Blake wasn't too happy though. He probably got airsick. He was grouchy for a while. But I am sure he will appreciate when he can return to the city and brag to all his friends about his experience.

something is three-months-old today... like a baby. needs to grow up. get more mature? i don't think so.. just bought some toys. a red remote control car. and a multi-colored (red, yellow, green, blue, to be exact) mini bumble ball. yay! its a battery-powered party. let's celebrate...

blake wakes up in a strange new land. where is kendra? there is a swimming pool outside.. or is it a painting of one? yesterday, he travelled for hundreds of miles (or it seemed) in a basket-woven purse to get here. the city was a wasteland, the morning-after of a reluctant street party, with thousands of commuters forced on the street, to walk and in many cases to spend the night, with strangers and the last cold beers. cars were gridlocked, and drivers, too, descended upon the street. but by friday morning, the confusion and clutter had eased into a silence and emptiness. neighbors whispered on the sidewalks, and foraged the lone open eateries for food. it was in this atmosphere that blake made his way out of the ninth story, down a stairwell that was pitch-black, walked from the east side to the west side of the city, then walked forty two blocks to the bus station. it was 96 degrees outside.

when he finally reached port authority, the bus station was shut down, dark and without electricity. outside, the buses parked in no particular order and mobs of crowds awaited to embark, pushing and shoving, frustrated, angry, tired. blake had the distinct advantage of being little and mobile. he crept through the crowds and found a bus. he found a seat, but the bus did not move. he didn't mind. he watched outside from the window, watched the chaos unraveling.

finally, the bus took off. She put him in her basket-woven purse so he would not fall off, and placed the purse on her lap. He stuck his head out the purse, though, so he could still see and nibble on the carrots she had brought along.

LoudCloud is in major crisis due to a power outage since Thursday evening. Most residents, including Piglet, Blake, and Kendra are said to be fine. Car Bear, however, is still feared stranded on the 42nd floor since the elevators are not in service. He is in relatively good sprits and keeping himself well fed using the company vending machine but is little anxious during the nights when there is absolutely no light. No other major injuries are reported from LoudCloud except a few had to switch to battery power to maintain life.

The outage disrupted most plans for the residents of the LoudCloud. But the trip to Noha is still scheduled to go ahead. Among events that were cancelled were, Piglet’s shower, which was crucial due to his current appearance. Piglet has collected a significant amount of deposit lately, whilst being kicked and flung around and made to sleep on the floor.

Thursday, August 14, 2003

Hope everyone is still functioning after the power outage. Hopefully Piglet and everyone else had their batteries fully charged.

Wednesday, August 13, 2003

It has been awfully quiet in the LoudCloud lately. Not that things didn't happen worth mentioning, but everyone has been so busy. Let's see if I can remember things that happened in the past couple of weeks. Hmmm ... Can't really remember anything other than we had our first few fights last week. First one because I ate Belgian fries. Not much of a reason for a fight but considering they are doubly fried, I guess it's understandable. The second fight was about going out. It turned into a big mess. All because of a voice mail, I got in deep trouble with a little bit of help from my friends. On top of that, Blake (turns out he is not a stunt double. Or is he? I don't know. So confused) gets left behind in the Upper West. He is only a ... Never mind. I am in enough trouble as it is. All signs of a mature ... oops! Better not say that either.
What else happened? Hmm ... Oh the accident! Two weekends ago my car went spinning after being rammed from behind on the Interstate. No one got hurt and the car, which by the way, still has no name, is only slightly damaged. Fortunately, car bear was in the city.
Also, we watched Spellbound. Was very good. Recommend it.

piglet blinked. what happened? once life was so simple in the forest. winnie-the-pooh was the center of attention, and nobody hardly paid any attention to little piglet at all. even after he left the forest, followed Her home after she declared "you are the cutest and most cuddly pinkness i have ever met.. please please please come home with me..." things were still relatively simple. he lived on the fluffiest comforter, surrounded by pillows and constant hugs.

but now: bears from cars, stunt doubles, egg-yolks named after street corners.. even a Boy, who once beat him with a cricket bat, but has since explained it was a Misunderstanding, were now all a part of his daily existence. oh dear, thought piglet, the world is becoming complicated. . .

Thursday, August 07, 2003

It's been a while since I update the LoudCloud. So much has happened in LoudCloud since the little scuffle between Piglet and the Car bear. Everything is sorted out now. They are back to being friends, though they rarely meet. Piglet is busy with his show-business engagements. And Car Bear has been working hard and traveling on business. He has been going up and down between Mexico lately to take care of some clients while piglet took a weekend off from his busy schedule to attend a meditation retreat with Kendra and Blake.

Yes, Kendra and Blake are new to LoudCloud too. Well it's a little confusing. They are actually stunt doubles of us. They were personified a few weeks ago at a street carnival (where we also met the old lady from the exotic island - Manhattan, and wise old man with an eternal quest to find the relationship between logic and math. Or was it math and logic. Does it really matter?). Since then, Kendra and Blake have become a part the LoudCloud. Except for their, sometimes "sketchy", behavior, they fit in quite well and is often substituted for us in various stunts.

"Why would anyone wake up at 6 in the morning to meditate?" thought Piglet. But eventually, after surviving the 35-minute meditation, Piglet had fun. The food was excellent and the Chinese temple all this happened was pretty charming. We all attended a lecture on 'metta' (?) and solemnly undertook to refrain from the 5 bad stuff. Fortunately for Piglet (and some of us), sex before marriage didn't violate any.

Work and school was demanding for everyone at the Cloud. "Egg-sams", foreign clients, meetings, and business lunches were all in a week's work. Kendra and Car Bear worked so hard, Car bear couldn't stay at work any more. He had to be taken home to relive him of stress. He is, since, back in work - alert and able as usual. Kendra is too but also somewhat clumsy. Here is what Kendra wrote a few days back:

"I'm having a day full of technical difficulties. my phone is not working, and i just tripped over some A/C adapter cord and now here are wires that look like brain-noodles all over my floor and unfortunately the cord does not seem to be related to my computer so i can't even bother the help desk with it even though i did and then they pointed out to me that it was the cord to my halogen desk light, not my laptop :)"

Car Bear is sad. It is not even about Piglet anymore. In fact, he misses Piglet. He misses everyone. He watches the world through glass. People passing by, living their life, the sun rising and setting, and he is just watching.

Once, not so long ago, he traveled through the lands, over the hills and distant roads, every single day, in the backseat of a car. Now he hears stories about Mexico, Italy, England - even Staten Island. Now it all sounds exotic. He wants to be on the road again. . .

Car bear will miss Her, of course. The stories they share, the play-time, the work he helps with, the elevator rides, the chocolate chip cookies she brings back from lunch receptions, the way she hugs him when she is nervous. Suddenly, he thinks of an idea : She will come with him. they will Escape.
