Esh Kosh Eight O' Clock!

Communication today has been difficult. The boy's email is not working properly.

This is the last Friday before making that long journey to Sri Lanka. Basically it is the last Friday of the year for the boy and his weekly trip to New York. TGIF this week is an understatement! After this weekend, its just one night in Enfield and the boy is back in New York. Then they are both off to Sri Lanka during Christmas celebrating it on the plane. The boy is trying to get everything organized. Don’t want to forget anything. The girl is looking for a dress for a new year’s. The boy needs to find a date. He hopes the girl hasn’t found one already.

The boy called 911 just in time to prevent a gas explosion at 199 bowery. Except he had no idea there was a gas leak at 199 and he was in Enfield trying to dial 917. Afterwards he was trying to convince the emergency response team that it was a mistake. But they insisted someone come over to check. When cops got there they got a little suspicious because the boy didn’t know how to buzz them in. He didn’t know how to since no one ever visits him in the boondocks. The cop was eventually convinced that nothing was wrong and radioed the dispatcher that the ‘area’ was clear.

The girl, meanwhile, was returning home to find her apartment about to take off like a helium balloon. No one still knows who left the cooker on. The gas leak soon made its way to the ventilation ducts and soon the neighbors were worried as well. The gas company people arrived and soon sorted everything out.

It was a strange sequence of events. The girl needed to call 911 with a legitimate emergency. The boy called 911 but was in the wrong place. Only thing that was right was the time.

The brunch place is no longer called Noho Star. While the boy and the girl were watching it was renamed to Noho Sta or Noho tar (something like that) almost sending a by stander to the hospital.

The movie was good except for a sad attempt by Hugh Grant to play prime minister. The boy could have done a better job.

Considering the tools the boy has to work with, he did a fabulous job. Has anyone tried painting a landscape in winter without white paint? Plus the book on how to succeed in painting is all full of white paint. So when enjoying the boys works, keep in mind, the snow may appear slightly orange.

A weekend of boundless creativity - limited only by the absence of white paint.

It all started so early. Yes, tossed out of bed and onto the streets at 9 am, dazed and confused, not knowing what on earth people did in the city at this time of the day. Brunch seemed a good option - but imagine this - boy and girl were even too early for brunch. So they wandered into an art store (where they didn't buy white paint) until NoHo Star let them in. NoHo Star at this time was full of grown-ups and young kids. none of the usual hipster post-club kid scensters they usually share weekend meals with.

then a movie. yes, there was almost no one else in the entire theater. but who really needed anyone else - we had hugh grant!! - i mean, we had each other.

Then, some holiday shopping. another visit to the art store (where again they didn't buy white paint). marshmellow body powder.

Then, english high tea. a stack of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam. and after all that, only yet 3 p.m. Such a long day already, time to go home and rest. And so exhausted - they rested at home - for basically the rest of the weekend.

Well, there were parties planned and such. But something happened. Art. or more accurately, white-paint lacking art.

Girl occupied herself with creating three-dimensional green triangles on paper, and eventually agreed to be a little less abstract (adding specks of pink and yellow for ornaments), while Boy got serious with textured landscapes of boats at sea.

Invited some friends to visit (for gatorade and vodka, and some art-criticism from alex and marissa-visiting-from-Los Angeles), and ditched some other friends entirely. they were too focused on art to think of socializing.

Then on Sunday - snow!!! girl found it first. great excuse to - stay home and finish Art. Although as boy looked out the window at the white fluffy snow, he could only sigh as he realized he had no white paint.

Art was not restricted to the canvas. they also made scrambled egg pizzas and home-made garlic bread.

at night, it was time for Celebration. someone was admitted to the Bar (though more qualified, clearly, for the one down the street, than the courtrooms downtown).

they braved the elements, huddled in their warmest coats, and arrived at tabla, where the chef dazzled their palettes with fusion french-indian cuisine. although girl was initially shocked she couldn't find mango lassi on the menu, she was quickly won over by the creativity (and yummy-ness) of the food. and boy was happy he finally got real meat.

so the boy and girl celebrated into the night :)

It’s been a week since the snowstorm. Since the day, boy wondered if he would ever get to see her. First the change of plans that took her to Dallas. Then the certain people who tried to keep her there. After a convincing them she needed to be back in NY, they finally released her. They still seemed a little confused.

Then there was that severe snowstorm that engulfed much of the east coast. Starting from the south, airports started shutting down one-by-one as time went by. The boy being desperate thought hard and long and finally came up with an idea to get her and friends to Hartford. (Yes they do have an airport other than Skylark.)

After much adventure and lots of food, everyone got to NY safe and sound.

It’s been one week since that day. The girl is busy and the boy is reading. So many things have happened today. Someone finally came out with the biggest prime number. Half of Iraqi army has apparently quit. England is 200 odd runs behind in the second innings of the Kandy Test. Oh and by the way the girl passed the bar yesterday and was home to get some personal things done.

Soon it will be the time the boy takes the train. Train to the big city to meet everyone in loudcloud. That’s what makes Friday the best day in the whole week

blake has a new appreciation for freedom. he spent last week stuck inside a backpack. no one (not even kendra) even knew he was in the apartment the whole time. the backpack was supposed to have gone to california with girl, but in the last minute, she switched bags. sadly, blake didn't jump into the new bag in time. so he was left behind.. in darkness. in that small enclosed space, he learned to meditate. maybe he didn't need kendra after all. maybe the physical sensual world was overrated. but then girl returned, quickly let him out of the bag, and blake forgot all about that enlightenment stuff -- he just leaped out, and landed right on kendra. he's still there.

girl is back!

it was a long, strange trip. thanskgiving with sisters cousins and more cousins. attention-getting sore throat, lots of soup and day-time t.v. sleep. on the way to LAX, and suddenly diverted.
to Texas. saw sister and lots of documents. had lemon, honey and ginger-ale. dinner with boy (who wasn't even there, but later fell into the bath-tub).
a cancelled flight. many cancelled flights. finally, a new flight. diverted to.. connecticut? no, really? yes. flew right into hartford. couldn't have planned it better. in the middle of the snowstorm. three law firm assoicates stranded - rescued by brave boy, who displayed his impressive driving skills cruising calmly through miles and miles of snowstorms, while other cars spun, landed upside down, in ditches, he took us smoothly through.. to new haven. missed the train (luckily). a night in new haven. train the next morning.. and finally new york. where girl's luxury-ghetto apartment alternatingly lacked heat and hot water. but it eventually toasted up, and the room got cozy and warm.

so hot, in fact, that the girl had to dip her foot into a bowl of chocolate-vanilla ice cream. the boy laughed so hard he almost died.

It has been the longest week. Or is it weeks. The girl has been gone forever. Blake, Kendra, Miffy, Piglet and all the rest are waiting for her to come back. The boy wouldn't mind seeing her either. He did, however, meet the girl and a couple of other people for dinner. Well, kind of. He was at the table in digital form. He was, apparently, even in the group picture they took while in the restaurant. He enjoyed a meal of lamb shanks and filet mignon - digitally.

It is December. December is winter. And during winter it often snows. But today is a pretty bad day to start off the snow season. She is still far away waiting to get on a li'l airplane that will bring her here. However, the word is, since the snowstorm is pretty severe, most flights are getting delayed or cancelled. So boy is waiting in suspense. He hopes she gets back safe and sound. He himself needs to brave the storm and get himself to the city. Amongst all uncertainties, the boy hopes he will see the girl this evening.
