Tuvalu involved in scandal; girl threatens to resign her affections for island-nation

Accusations are flying high that the tiny, sinking (and beloved-by-girl) nation of Tuvalu has joined the International Whaling Commission because of a bribe (!) by the nation of Japan in order to change the balance of power of the Commission in favor of pro-whaling nations.  Girl is shocked and dismayed, not because of the bribe accusation, which she knows is not true, but because of the fact that Tuvalu has revealed itself to be pro-whaling.  Girl loves whales, and is at a dilemma whether to resign her affections for the country because of its stance towards the ocean's friendliest blubbery creatures.

Residents Prepare for Mass Evacuation

as girl prepares to depart new york city, one question is on everyone's mind: what will happen to all the residents of loudcloud?  poor kendra was lost (and still not found) in the last move, and that was just a move of one and a half blocks down the street.  this current move - scheduled to be across continents -  promises to be even more jarring.  will blake survive this move?  will miffy be lost in the shuffle?  will piglet be characterized as a sharp-edged or flammable equipment, and be forced to be left in the airport security with the scissors?  most important - will boy fit in the hand luggage?

A Day in the Woods

when boy lived there, enfield was just an out-of-the-way in-the-middle-of-nowhere residence.  now that he has moved to the City, he is the proud owner of a second home - a summer home - in the countryside, the Inn at Bigelow Commons.  on sunday, girl, boy, and car bear did a trip to visit.  they played tennis and raquetball.  it was girl's first experience with raquetball.  she was scared of getting hit with the ball bouncing from all sides in the square cage, but boy avoided his urges to smack her on the head, and she survived.   they enjoyed a barbecue with boy's friend, the local Bigelow Commons culinary star.  and late at night, they drove back into the big City.

The Girl is Closing

It's been two weeks since the boy packed his bag and came to the big city. He was hoping to spend a lot of time with the girl. But ever since he arrived, the girl has been 'closing'. She only works 2 weeks a year and the two weeks happened to fall when the boy is in town. The boy saw the girl more often when he was up in Enfield. Fortunately, the 'closing' has apparently closed today and the girl should be free. Boy can't wait to do all the things they were planning to do. It's New York after all. There is so much to do in the city that never sleeps. Hmm well ... that may be, but the boy needs lots of it.

Noodles

boy was starving on sunday night, so girl took him to Pure Food & Wine, where they settled into comfy chairs in the breezy (well breezy for new york city ) outdoor garden and ordered their dishes - boy looked forward to dining on delicious noodles and layered lasagne. the only problem was when the food arrived, boy discovered that his noodles weren't really noodles, and the lasagne didn't even have any pasta in it. unbeknownst to him, he had been taken to one of the premier restaurants in the Raw Food Movement. No heat was used in the preparation of any of the food: nothing was toasted, cooked, or even warm. and of course, no animals or animal by-products were used. The result was just pure energy. boy had so much energy after dining here that right after dinner he ran all the way to.. get greasy, oily, hot indian food.

Boy leaves Enfield

This will be the boy’s last posting from Enfield. He is packing up his bags and leaving what was his home for 2 years. He won’t miss much. May be the big pool at Bigelow’s he used twice in two years, the gym he has never used and might miss working for the tallest sky scrapper in Enfield which is a whopping 4 stories high. He will miss the one bar in town and the pool hall next town over. Seriously, he will miss the Skylark, the tiny runway and flying his RC plane on company car park. But all in all, he is glad to be leaving. He is going to join the girl in the big city. No more waking up at 5am to catch the metro-north and no more long distance calls. That is, at least, no more state-to-state long distance. Starting in August, that will change to international long distance.

Hooray for Independence

The offices are empty, the phones are not ringing. No one is doing any work at all. In the great American tradition of the pre-holiday holiday, the Friday before the July 4th weekend is a time when the rest of the workforce does what girl usually does. Nothing.

Jetsetting

A weekend trip to Tokyo? A midweek lunch in Paris? 12 hours in London, merely to go clubbing? A business deal in Angkor Watt? Sadly, no. Girl's midweek travel destination was Columbus, Ohio. A part of the country her life would have been just as complete without.
