It was time for yet another election! This time it is a presidential election. Two contenders who were party to relieving the nation from the grips of terrorism, were at logger-heads, in ugly competition against each other.
I found it difficult to reconcile as to who would deserve my vote the most. Lots of moderates like myself were at crossroads. It was a difficult choice and the choice was made by taking a stand of elimination. Realistically it should have been on the basis of 'want' rather than on a basis of 'not want'.
Yet again, it was declared a free and fair election by most and the prevailing president was re- elected by popular vote.
A defeated Army General who could have been a decorated and revered war hero, will probably never be remembered for his valiance in the war front. It is sad how hunger for power would make some people make short sighted choices in detriment to self and even sadder how politics can manipulate people's minds to the extent that they would see an otherwise war hero as a traitor!
